Summer Update from The House on the Rock

The shop has now been trading for just over 18 months and in that time we have made substantial progress.  We continue to see our sales grow as we gradually build towards that day when we finally reach the break-even point and we will no longer be a burden on the PCCs funds.  We are not there yet, but I continue to be greatly encouraged by the progress we have made.

We have now built up quite a band of regular customers who are not otherwise known at this church.  In addition, we continue to welcome visitors from near and far who come to see the church for its architecture, to find a space for contemplation or to light a candle.

Our business continues to be equally divided between the two elements of the shop – the coffee shop and the book shop.  This year we have particularly seen a growth in the sales of drinks and of greetings cards.  You will have probably noticed a general increase in the levels of stock in the shop, where we have especially expanded our range of gifts.  And of course we frequently take orders for books not held in stock.

For the summer we have:

 A “3 for 2” offer on a range of children’s books – this is proving very popular and stocks are already running low;

Great deals on a range of children’s bibles and bible stories, such as “50 favourite bible stories narrated by Cliff Richard” – book and three CDs for just £7.00;

Adults’ fiction books and biographies at special rates.  See leaflet in church.

Once again, thank you for both your continuing support and custom.

      Thursday        9.30am to 5.00pm;

      This also means that the church will be open through the week; making it more accessible for visitors.  The opening times will be consistent with The House on the Rock, although it should be noted that this will be subject to change, when funerals, weddings and special services are taking place.  Notification of changes to opening times will be displayed in church.
