Imogen Garner, mezzo-soprano and Fenella Haworth-Head, piano in recital at Bury Parish Church Lunchtime Concert

Imogen Garner from Cheshire is a graduate of the RNCM. She is the mezzo soloist in Gala concerts for the Heritage Opera and will debut with Opera Seria this autumn. Imogen appears regularly in opera and on the concert platform and is a keen recitalist.

Fenella Haworth-Head studied at the RNCM with Majorie Clementi and David Francis. She won the Keldwyth Award in 1987. She has accompanied both choirs and soloists and regularly plays for BTS events as well as recording Brett Baker's albums.

The programme includes works by Gluck, Grieg, Britten and Saint-Saens.

All concerts begin at 12.30pm.

Tickets for the concert are £5 and available on the door. Everyone is welcome.

Pre-concert lunches of soup and sandwiches are available in the Church Hall from 11.30am. The church and its shop/café are open all day, so you are welcome to browse amongst books, gifts and CDs or enjoy light refreshments before or after the concert

26 Sept. John Bailey and Paul Lakin (classical guitarists)

Admission is normally £5.00, but occasionally this may be increased for a particular concert. Pay at the door and get a programme of the music, biographical details of the performers and advance notice of future concerts.

Many of our performers are studying or have studied at Chetham's School of Music, the Royal Northern College of Music or other prestigious UK music institutions. A lot are already established as noted performers, not only in the UK but overseas, and are winners of music prizes, awards and scholarships.  A number are from overseas. Quite a few are based in the North West but others travel significant distances to be with us.

This series of weekly classical lunchtime concerts began nine years ago and we have organised about 44 concerts each year between mid-September and mid- July. On the 11 April 2014 we reached the 400th concert. We aim to provide a wide range of high quality music - instruments and voices - at a very reasonable price.

The church and its coffee shop (at the West end of the church) are open all day, so you are welcome to browse amongst books, gifts and CDs or enjoy light refreshments before or after the concert. In addition, from 11.30am to 12.30pm, soup and sandwiches are available in the Blackburne Hall, just across the car park to the north side of the church.

Although several of our artists return on a regular basis we are always extending the number of musicians who come to perform.  If you are interested in offering your services for a concert and have had sound training and performance experience, the Rector, Dr John Findon, would be delighted to hear from you. Please send a short CV and contact details (address, phone and email) to the Parish Office. The email address is: bpc.office@tiscali.co.uk

We are able to pay a modest fee to those who perform.
