The Mothers' Union

The Branch of the Mothers' Union at Bury Parish Church was founded in 1876. The Branch has approximately sixty members and meets at 7.45pm on the first Tuesday of the month in the Blackburne Hall (behind the Church), preceded by a service of Holy Communion in Church at 7.15pm.

Membership of the World-Wide Mothers' Union is open to all who have been baptised and who declare support of the Aims and Objectives. We welcome new members and have an open invitation to all, both men and women, to attend our regular meetings.

We would also be interested to hear from any past members of the Bury Parish Church Branch - please get in touch.

MOTHERS’ UNION A.G.M. 2nd FEBRUARY 2010

The meeting opened at 8.00 p.m. after Communion Service in Church.  Rita welcomed the Rector and members, and the official business of the A.G.M. was speedily and successfully concluded, with new committee members and officials all safely brought on board.

Our congratulations went to Pat Evans on completing 50 years membership.

Rita said a sad farewell as Branch Leader before handing over the reins to myself.  The Rector presented me with my badge of office and I then thanked Rita for her 6 years as our leader.  Rita was then presented with gifts from all the members of the Branch, as a mark of our appreciation.  This was followed by a celebratory supper, which we all enjoyed.

May I remind members that the annual subscription is now due, if you have not already paid it, and we will also be collecting the crème eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, at the March meeting.

Mothering Sunday is on 14th March and we will be providing cakes to serve with the coffee, following the 10.05 a.m service.  Donations of cakes should be taken to the Blackburne Hall from 9.30 a.m onwards, before the morning service.

Lady Day is on 25th March and will be celebrated with Communion, in Church, at 12.45 p.m.  A Communion service will also be held at 7.30 p.m. at Manchester Cathedral when our World Wide President, Rosemary Kempsall, will be commissioning new Officers in the Manchester Diocese.

My official commissioning as your new Branch Leader will take place on Mothering Sunday, at the 10.05 a.m service – please come and support me.

Jo Prestwich

Branch Leader
