Since forming in 2014, the Elmet Clarinet Quintet, comprising Rachael Gibbon, Richard Webster, Alison Mordey, Robin Pennie and Caroline Steer, has performed varied programmes to audiences in Bury, Todmorden, Halifax and Leeds. These have included the well known quintet by Mozart, as well as those by Brahms and Weber, plus a range of shorter pieces.
Their recent concert in the lunchtime series, at the Halifax Square Chapel Arts Centre, brought in the largest audience yet of the season.
Clarinettist, Rachael, also performs concertos with orchestras locally and plays in various trio ensembles and as a soloist; other members of the quintet are also orchestral players.
Viola player, Robin and cellist, Caroline, are former members of the Ulster and Hallé orchestras respectively.
Violinist, Richard, led the Sinfonia of Leeds for some twenty years and Alison is a member of various chamber groups, including the Canzona String Quartet.
