Emily Wilson: Clarinettist
Emily graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music Masters programme with Distinction in 2016, under the tutelage of John Bradbury and Lynsey Marsh. Whilst at the RNCM Emily won the Gilbert-Fell prize for contemporary solo performance, a Music at Beaulieu Award and Third Prize in the Virovitica International Clarinet Competition.
Emily enjoys a huge variety of solo, chamber and orchestral work as a freelance musician. Recent engagements include the Copland Clarinet Concerto in Huddersfield Town Hall with Slaithwaite Philharmonic, the world premiere of Andy Fisher's Bass Clarinet Concerto with Southampton Sinfonietta, a world premiere by Blasio Kavuma in Union Chapel Islington with her ensemble Salford Keys, and work with EverythingEverything and The Charlatans at Festival No.6 in Portmeirion. Emily also freelances with numerous orchestras including the CBSO, Hallé orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Last summer she performed in the Aldeburgh Festival as part of the Britten Pears Academy Orchestra conducted by Marin Alsop, and she will be returning to Aldeburgh this summer to take part in a contemporary music project led by Mark Anthony Turnage, Ryan Wigglesworth and Colin Matthews.
Emily performed Bartok’s Contrasts in Bury Parish Church in 2016 with the Lallemant Trio, and is delighted to return today to perform Clarinet and Piano repertoire with Carlos Sanchis-Aguirre.
CARLOS SANCHIS-AGUIRRE: Pianist
Spanish pianist Carlos Sanchis-Aguirre has played as soloist or with different ensembles in some of Europe's most important venues. An avid chamber musician, Carlos is former member of "Arniches Trio", ensemble who has performed in most of the young artists’ series in Spain.
Member of several youth orchestras, including “Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester” among others, Carlos studied in Zaragoza (Spain), obtaining his bachelor degree in 2015 with honours in piano and chamber music. Later, he studies a Master of Arts in Geneva (Switzerland), with the support of the “Rotary Club” (Madrid) and getting the "François Dumont" prize in his final recital. In 2018 he joins “Académie Musicale de Villecroze” (France) for piano masterclasses with pianist Louis Lortie and more recently "Solti Accademia" in Venice (Italy) in the "Repetiteurs course" for italian opera. He currently works in Manchester (United Kingdom) as a Junior Fellow in Piano Accompaniment in “Royal Northern College of Music”. Future engagements include a European tour with clarinetist Kevin Spagnolo (winner of Geneva Competition ’18).
