Who: 0-11 year olds (younger ones should be accompanied by parent/guardian)

When: Sunday 10am; we will take them back over to the Church in time for communion

Where: Church House (the building behind church at the end of the car park); normally in the Blackburne Hall (the big room on the right as you enter).

Bury Parish Church’s Sunday School is split into two age groups: 0-5s and 5-11s. Both groups meet in Blackburne Hall ready for a 10am kick off and enjoy a small time of worship together. After this the older group move into the Kay Room.

0-5s

The younger children will then listen to a simple bible story followed by an activity, e.g. drawing or making. We encourage the children to join in to the best of their ability and there are usually many hands available to help. Children are able to play and make new friends, learning to share and cooperate with each other.

We feel that it is also important that the children are brought into a caring and nurturing environment where parents are happy to leave their children and where the children are happy to come. We invite children to join us from an early age and they will stay with us until their sixth birthday when they move into the junior department. Parents are welcome to stay or leave their child in our care.

If you would like to learn some of our songs and prayers then please feel free to download a copy of them here.

5-11s

Our aim in the 5-11 year group is to encourage the children to learn about their faith and the Bible whilst still having lots of fun. We firmly believe that keeping the sessions light-hearted encourages the children to come to church on a regular basis, allowing them to play an active part in church life. During our time together the children will work with their friends on a wide range of Bible themed activities such as quizzes, games and craft work. We use Light Live material from Scripture Union in order to help your child learn about Jesus in ways that are relevant to them. Come and give us a try; it’s interactive, and engaging, and we promise lots of fun!
