Flower Arranging at Bury Parish Church
Our flower-arranging team is a friendly group who love making the church look bright, beautiful, and welcoming throughout the year. Each week, more than a dozen of us take turns creating a fresh flower pedestal for the front of church, ready for Sunday worship. We also design arrangements that reflect the church calendar — poppies for Remembrance Sunday, red and white for St George’s Day, red and yellow for Gallipoli Sunday, and eye-catching palms on Palm Sunday.
Three times a year — Easter, Harvest, and Christmas — the whole team comes together to decorate all twelve windowsills, giving the church a festive lift.
Harvest features warm autumn colours of orange, yellow, and red, plus a large display of fruit and vegetables.
Christmas arrangements often include candles, which are lit during carol services, Christmas Eve Communion, and Christmas Day.
We also run flower-arranging workshops at Easter and Harvest, open to anyone in the congregation who’d like to join in and learn. Around 80 baskets are made each time! These are displayed in church and then delivered during the week to our elderly or unwell members — a simple way to brighten someone’s day.
If you’d like to remember a loved one, we’re happy to arrange a memorial basket for the Memorial Table. These can be donated in memory of someone listed in the Memorial Book. Donations (cheques payable to Bury Parish Church) can be sent to:
