BAPTISMS, WEDDINGS AND FUNERALS

The clergy team are here to help. If you are thinking about a Christening or Wedding, we would ask you to come to a Sunday morning service at 10am. However, if you want to touch base first, do feel free to contact us using the relevant images below.

If you need to speak to the Rector more urgently, please contact him at any reasonable time. Telephone messages and emails are checked frequently

Funerals

Who can have a funeral at Bury Parish Church? We are happy to have a conversation with anyone about arranging this. We are a Church of England Church and we use sensitively and flexibly the resources provided by the Church of England. Ask your funeral director to contact us if you would like to explore this. The service will be taken by a current member of the Parish staff.

We want to have a cremation. Do you take these? We do. Sometimes people have a service in Church first and then go to the Crematorium (or Cemetery). Sometimes people choose to go straight to the Crematorium. We are happy to help in either case.

What else can you offer? Bury Parish Church has a small area where we bury cremated remains. Because it is small, the only people whose remains are buried here are of those whose service we have taken. If for some reason (such as the funeral took place a long way away or a long time ago and you still have the ashes you want to explore having ashes buried in our plot) we can arrange for a memorial service here at Bury Parish prior to the burial.

Is there a fee? We are bound by the Church of England’s fee structure. Except in exceptional circumstances, there is a charge for all funerals.

In the first place, we suggest you start a conversation with the Funeral Director of your choice.
