Groundworks begin on 28 September

Work began on Monday, 28 September for a period of around 12 weeks, our

historic 400-year-old ledger stones at Bury Parish Church are set to be preserved. The stones, which date back to the 1600s, form the footpath leading to the main entrance of the Grade I listed building. However, due to age, weather, and foot traffic, they have become damaged, causing concern for both historians and visitors. The project to preserve and re-site the stones within the church grounds has been funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Bury Council, and the church.

There will be limited access and no parking on the northside of the parish church for the duration of the work.

The boards in the North aisle, details the project to be undertaken.
